While my Logitech G500/G500S don't have customization for led colors, it does for the dpi, polling rate, sensitivity. We've had the ability to do this for approx a decade with various devices that have LEDs, such as my old Alienware keyboard for example.
But again once changed the program cam be uninstalled and never needed unless wanted to change it again. Just need a program to initially change them is all. You could then leave it alone once changed how you want, it does not rely on anything inside any OS to keep the colors. Which is why all those colors are correct when you first power on your PC.
